Hate is in the air

Muni rider Whole Wheat Toast sent in this great pictorial post from Saturday’s prop 8 rally. Muni buses were the backdrop of many of the pictures from that day. Whole Wheat Toast said that he just uses a Canon to take pictures for the fun of it so that he doesn’t spend all afternoon at home. This is an excerpt from his blog, the full post can be found at The Toasted Blog.

On November 15, 2008, The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence led a march down Market - and thus begin the setting straight of Prop 8 supporters…

They went down Market, left on Stockton, and into the Stockton tunnel…

…and while walking down Stockton, right around Pacific, we saw this man:

(He’s the fat asian guy that was looking at me)

End of America!
No more generation!
End of America!

That is exactly what he said. After that, I heard boos from the crowd.

We then made a right on Broadway…

Right around there, it seems that the cops were out in full force attempting to keep us at one lane of traffic, still, we nearly swallowed up both directions of Van Ness Avenue.

Hey awesome post - this is what makes me love San Francisco. What is up with that guy, “No more generation?” WTF?

Couple thoughts:

-Great pictures! It’s heartening to see so many voices raised against h8te.

-There are thankfully (I think?!) rare instances of riotous bus-tipping or vandalism during such events. I wonder why? This peacenik crowd perhaps never gets that violent, which is good.

-It’s kind of ironic how a city with this many street-clogging protests…relies on above-ground transit (bus and rail) to get around.

we didn’t take buses, we wreaked havoc.

I think what he means by saying “no more generation” is that he thinks that *everyone will be gay and no more babies will be born*. Not true.

also I use a Canon PowerShot A570. I also do have a profound interest in Muni for whatever reason…
