Express buses often are crowded, and Muni runs expresses in a narrow time window around traditional rush hours. But many workers don’t work a 9-to-5 shift, and overcrowded buses would seem to indicate that there’s more demand than Muni can fill with its existing express service.
So the question is — Why doesn’t Muni run more express buses?

We are working hard to try and find out: http://spot.us/pitches/39
The next THREE people who donate to this pitch will get a free t-shirt inspired by the Muni system: http://blog.spot.us/2008/12/08/get-a-muni-shirt-and-support-reporting-on-muni/
The finished article, commissioned through small donations from the public, will be given away for free to local news organizations from the SFist to the Examiner. Anyone can republish it – and I’ll make sure to do a follow up post here on Muni Diaries letting people know what we find out.
This is a chance not just to complain about Muni — but make something happen through reporting and digging up important information.

Great idea. I’m just a few stops in on the 31AX, and it’s always standing-room only by the time it gets to my stop.
