We are seniors and ride Muni all the time. It pays to be aware of all that is going on around you. This event should not be hijacked into a freaking pc discussion about racial profiling!

Racial profiling is when someone judges someone else based on their race. Kathleen is a writer who was telling a story with descriptors, which is what good writers do. Pick up your favorite book: authors describe their characters’ appearances as well as the action. Good writing paints a picture. Kathleen, keep up the good work.

I agree with Kathleen, you guys are completely missing the point of this story. Someone flashed a gun at the bus stop, and another guy pulled out a knife on the bus. How about displaying some horror at what’s happening in our city rather than sniping about storytelling decisions?

Oh jeez. You’ve got to be kidding me right? How is it racial profiling if I am simply describing the characters in my story? If it had been a white man who pulled out a gun from his pants, I would have described the character as being white. If the drunk guys on the bus who pulled out a knife were speaking french, then I would have noted that too.

Freakin relax people. You are barking up the wrong tree. I’m not a racist nor am I racially profiling. Did I happen to mention that this was a true story?

And regardless of the character’s skin color and ethnicity, did you miss the fact that the characters in this situation were bearing guns and knives on public transportation and exposing them at will to innocent bystanders?

Its too bad you had to “go there”. But truly, racial profiling is not really what you are doing, is it? If its not, than what would you call it Kathleen? After all, its the Mexicans and the Blacks that do the vandalism in the mission aint it? “oh, he was tall and black, or.. hispanic? yeah, he was tall black or hispanic”. Whose panic? …eeew! watch what you say Kathleen Neves, the mission is full of them “black and hispanic” or should we call them latinos? hmm. Get it together Cielito Goldie. hee
