When I saw the headline of a recent story sent to us by a Muni rider (someone just like you!), I had to read the content of the post three or four times to ensure that, lo and behold, there was not a hint of cynicism or hatred in it. Dial up the archivist, we’ve got ourselves an honest-to-goodness bit of Muni praise. From Leslie:
Every day I receive a cheerful “Good Morning” as I sleepily walk up to the N-Judah outbound Cole & Carl stop. The source of this greeting? Our friendly, neighborhood Muni Fare Collector! A few mornings ago, I was a bit later than usual and he was finishing his shift, headed back downtown. He got on the train with us and hobnobbed with us commuters. I surreptitiously snapped this shot with my Blackberry [above] as he chatted with a photgrapher who sat next to me. And then Tweeted about it!
Aw, how sweet. No, really. This is awesome. Thank you, Fare Inspector Cable Car operator 0613.
Now it’s your turn: Share your Muni stories with everyone.

Yeah he is i have talked to him before. Cable Car Collectors are the only Muni Operators that are allowed to handle Cash. They are also used at Special Events and work in conjunction with Fare Inspectors to speed up boardings.

He’s a conductor on the cable car, actually. Same diff. I know him, too, and yes, he’s super nice.
If this is, in fact, him :)

Yep–and this is why he’s at Carl & Cole in the AM. To speed up boardings. Glad to know what else he does for SFMTA!

Cable Car operators have the best job in all the fleet. Happy tourists “gladly” pay the $5 to ride. No drunks, loonies, arrogant residents who complain about how crappy of service they are receiving, they don’t get threatened, yelled at, or beat by crazy passengers, no stinky dirty roach infested vehicles, they get nice breaks at the terminals, don’t have to wait hours before getting a chance to piss. Life is good when you are a Cable Car operator!
