about Muni Time Capsule
Muni Time Capsule is a visual history of the San Francisco public transit system, a digital archive of Muni ephemera and memories from days gone by, presented by the editors of Muni Diaries.
We have a thing for public transit. Just about everyone who visits Muni Diaries does, too. Muni Time Capsule began with some incredible stuff donated by longtime San Francisco resident and transit enthusiast Randy Alfred. Randy’s collection of maps and schedules from the 1970s through to the early 2000s includes some of the first schedules ever printed by a Muni operator named Richard Morley.
In the same spirit as Muni Diaries, you are the main contributor to this endeavor. While we do some scouting, if you have photos, links, vintage transfers, stories … whatever you feel should belong in the Muni Time Capsule, please send it to us using the Muni Diaries submissions form or email us at muni.diaries.sf@gmail.com.
So whether you’ve come to this site to peruse the offerings or add some content, enjoy the trip throughout San Francisco transit history.
