Is this Halloween or just another night on Muni? From rider Joey:

Halloween bus ride on Saturday night on the #2 Clement headed downtown. Unfortunately, I was trapped in a seat and unable to get in the shot. That girl in the foreground in the Ewok/Eskimo costume was from Minnesota and told us she had never ridden a bus before.

Rocking Muni for the Giants

You might’ve heard that a local baseball team did the biggest thing U.S. baseball teams can do last night. That’s right, the 2010 San Francisco Giants won the fucking World Series, y’all! And Muni was right in the thick of the wild celebration.

Obit-lette: 2-Clement

Friends, riders, countrymen, lend me your eyes; I come to bury the 2 Clement’s stops beyond Park Presidio/14th Ave., not to praise them.

Having only been an Outer Richmond resident for 18 months or so, I never really had occasion to ride the 2. The few times I did, I found it slower and less frequent than its parallel neighbors, the 1 California and 38 Geary.

I suppose it was useful that one time I was in Laurel Heights and missed the 1, but not being a tiny Asian grandmother on my way to or from New May Wah, the extra block I’ll now possibly need to walk won’t have me wailing over any caskets or derelict bus shelters.

But won’t someone please think of the children? Well, the Washington kids now have a 38 parked outside. They’ll be fine.

And so I say farewell to the 2 Clement’s westernmost appendage. Gone, and somewhat forgotten.

Loud and Proud

Even though we all know well and good that NextMuni is kind of a joke (as is txtmuni, which completely ignored my cries for help this morning and refused to tell me when my 2-Clement was coming until a half-hour later), I spied this nifty item at the 38/38L stop at Geary and Divisadero Friday, for buses headed downtown. I didn’t push the button, but somebody did, because it kept rattling off arrival times every few minutes and even told us when the bus was actually arriving.

Considering that one of my top gripes about Muni is how many buses don’t play the audio signals telling people what the next stop is, this is definitely a step in the right direction.
