Your Weekend Transit Advisory: MLK March, Inauguration Day, Jazz Center opening

Pretty busy weekend, and then things will really pick up on Monday, which is both MLK and Inauguration Day. Forewarned is fore-armed!

Athletic Association Event
From Friday through Saturday the San Francisco Gaelic Athletic Association event will take place at the San Francisco Gaelic Fields on Treasure Island and require the closure of Avenue “H” between California Avenue and 3rd Street from 3 p.m., Friday to 7 p.m., Saturday.

The 108 Treasure Island Muni route will be affected.

MLK March and Celebration
On Monday at 11 a.m., the MLK March will start at 4th and King streets and proceed east on Channel Street, north on 3rd Street and west on Howard Street to Yerba Buena Gardens. The march is expected to conclude at approximately noon.

The MLK Celebration will be held at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The Caltrain Freedom Train will arrive at the 4th Street and King Street Station at 10:55 a.m.

T Third Line will provide special service from Bayshore Boulevard and Sunnydale Avenue to 4th and Berry streets to coordinate with the arrival of Caltrain Freedom Train.

Muni bus shuttles will be standing by to transport those Caltrain “Freedom Train” riders who are unable to participate in the MLK March between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Participants may take the 30 Stockton or 45 Union-Stockton bus routes south on 5th Street for post-event service back to Caltrain after 1 p.m.

Regular bus fare applies.

· 8X Bayshore Express
· 10 Townsend
· 12 Folsom
· 30 Stockton
· 45 Union-Stockton
· 47 Van Ness

Street Closure of the Opening of SF Jazz Center
On Monday the official opening of the SF Jazz Center will take place between 11:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. at the SF Jazz Center and within the neighborhood’s closed streets. For event details, please visit www.sfjazz.org/grandopening.

There will be no impact on Muni bus service, but traffic in the event area will be heavy during the event time.
