Your Weekend Transit Advisory: Baseball, hella fairs, Sunday Streets Excelsior, Oracle OpenWorld

Holy festivals and fairs! Have a great weekend, errybody!

Giants Baseball
Beginning Friday and through Sunday, the San Francisco Giants will play three home games at AT&T Park against the San Diego Padres. It will be the Giants’ final homestand of the 2013 season:

· 7:15 p.m., Friday
· 1:05 p.m., Saturday
· 1:05 p.m., Sunday

The SFMTA advises motorists of the increased congestion in San Francisco and advises commuters to use transit on these dates.

As a reminder to fans and other motorists, the SFMTA will close eastbound King Street between 3rd and 2nd streets beginning in the 7th inning of all Giants home games until the post-game traffic has died down. Drivers on northbound I-280 should avoid taking the King Street exit during this period and use the Sixth Street exit instead. A map showing alternate post-game routes from AT&T parking lots is available on the Giants’ website.

Muni customers may purchase their fare in advance at the Embarcadero Metro Station three hours prior to the start time of each game:

Roadworks Street Fair
On Sunday the 10th Annual Roadworks presented by the San Francisco Center for the Books will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Rhode Island Street between 16th and 17th streets. For event details, please visit sfcb.org/events/roadworks.

Rhode Island Street between 16th and 17th streets will be closed from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday.

The following Muni routes will be affected

  • 10 Townsend
  • 19 Polk

Cole Valley Fair
On Sunday the 11th Cole Valley Fair will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more details, please visit www.midlinestudio.com.

The following street closures will be required from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday:
· Cole Street between Carl and Grattan streets
· Parnassus Avenue between Bevedere and Shrader streets

The following Muni lines and routes will be affected

  • N Judah
  • 6 Parnassus
  • 37 Corbett
  • 43 Masonic

Folsom Street Fair
On Sunday the Folsom Street Fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The following street closures will be required from 3 a.m. to 10 p.m., Sunday:
· Folsom Street between 7th and 12th streets
· 8th Street between Howard and Harrison streets
· 9th Street between Howard and Harrison streets
· 10th Street between Howard and Harrison streets
· 11th Street between Howard and Harrison streets
· All alleys and intersections bounded by 7th, Howard, 12th and Harrison streets

Traffic around the event area will be heavily congested. Motorists are advised to stay away from the event area and areas where street closures are enforced.

For northbound traffic, please use Harrison Street, travel to 13th Street and to Duboce Avenue. For southbound traffic, please use Octavia Boulevard and to US101 South Freeway.

The following Muni routes will be affected:
· 9 San Bruno
· 12 Folsom-Pacific
· 19 Polk
· 47 Van Ness

Sunday Streets Excelsior District
The eighth Sunday Streets event will be held this Sunday in the Excelsior District. The route includes the bustling outer Mission merchant corridor from Theresa Street at Avalon Avenue to Seneca avenues and connects with Balboa BART station half block from the southern start of the route at Seneca and San Jose avenues. The route will be available for recreational activities from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event is free to all participants.

The following street closures will be required from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.:
· Mission Street between Seneca and Silver avenues
· Seneca Avenue between San Jose Avenue and Mission Street
· Intersections: Seneca Avenue, Kenny Alley, Russia Avenue, Leo Street, Ruth Street, Harrington Street, Santa Rosa Avenue, Excelsior Avenue, Francis Street, Cotter Street, Tingley Street at Mission Street; Delano and Cayuga avenues at Seneca Avenue

Cross traffic will be allowed on:

· San Jose Avenue and Alemany Boulevard at Seneca Avenue

· Persia Avenue, Theresa Street, Avalon and Silver avenues at Mission Street

Mission Street traffic will be diverted to Alemany Boulevard:

· Northbound traffic at Geneva Avenue
· Southbound traffic at Silver Avenue

Access to Safeway will only be allowed from the entrance at France Avenue and out from the exit at Italy Avenue.

The following Muni routes will be affected:
· 14 Mission
· 14L Mission Limited
· 29 Sunset
· 49 Van Ness-Mission
· 52 Felton

Excelsior Arts and Music Festival
On Sunday the annual Excelsior Arts and Music Festival will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Ocean Avenue at Mission Street. For event details, please visit www.excelsiorfestival.org

The following street closures will be required from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.:
· Ocean Avenue between Persia Avenue and Mission Street
· San Juan Avenue between Alemany Boulevard and Mission Street

Intersection of Persia Avenue at Ocean Avenue will remain open during the street closures.

The following Muni routes will be affected:
· 14 Mission
· 14L Mission Limited
· 49 Mission-Van Ness

Treasure Island Street Closure
As a reminder, the following streets are closed or inaccessible and will continue until 9 p.m., Monday, Oct. 7 for the Oracle Openworld annual event:

· California Avenue between Avenue “D” and the eastern edge of the Island
· Portions of Avenues “H”, “M” and “N”

The 108 Treasure Island Muni route is affected during the street closure.
