BART Workers Begin Strike, No Service on Monday

Today marks the first BART worker strike since 1997, as BART employee unions and the BART board failed to reach an agreement in contract negotiations last night. Traffic on the Bay Bridge has been backed up since 6 a.m. today, and AC Transit is packed, says SFGate. You might recall that the labor dispute this time involves wages and contributions to pensions and health insurance.
If you’re commuting from outside of San Francisco into the city, what do you do aside from call in sick or plead to work from home?
Muni is prioritizing the 14-Mission and 49-Van Ness lines, and here are your other transit options according to SFGate:
– San Francisco Bay Ferry will add boats from the East Bay
– AC Transit will run extra buses (AC Transit is in its own labor dispute and could strike Tuesday morning)
– SamTrans plans to run a free shuttle between the Colma and Daly City BART stations and Mission Street near the Daly City-San Francisco border to connect to Muni.
It is to not go anywhere.
