Muni driver of the year?

Muni drivers are all too easy a target. And like every group of human beings, some of them probably do suck. I know I’ve encountered my fair share.

But @avolberding just posted a photo of the flipside of Muni driverdom:

Muni driver of the year? Bus driver helping old lady onto bus. #5574.

Happy Easter Friday, or whatever it is, y’all.

Photo Diary: Swimming in the Muni Tracks

Our “new” favorite city photographer collective, All City, interviewed photographer Patrick Power, who shot this photograph.

Patrick explains why San Francisco is such a great city for photographers.

“Compared to the relatively small midwest community I came from, there seems to be a photo opportunity around every corner here, whether it be the stunning vistas from the many hills, the architecture, the fog (which I’ve not spent a lot of time in so far), classic cars or the multi-cultural riches. A photographer’s paradise.”

Or a koi caught in the train tracks.

Twitter-Sourced Muni Transfer Art

Last month we found artist Faernworks on Twitter asking for people to save her some Muni transfers. “It’s for art,” she explains. A retweet later, she’s received enough transfers to create some pretty cool art.

“One of the reasons I am working with the transfers is because of their day to day ‘ness of them- the everyday use and familiarity- that is quickly changing- i have yet to get one of those cards…” she explains on the Faernworks website.

Glad we can help a little!

Here’s the second part of the Faernworks Muni transfers project:
