LiveSoma rides the E-Embarcadero

Over the weekend, Muni began running the much-anticipated E-Embarcadero line that connects Fisherman’s Wharf and the Caltrain Depot at Fourth and King Streets. Service ran on Saturday and Sunday, mostly to ferry people to this weekend’s America’s Cup events on the northern waterfront.

LiveSoma took a ride on the newest Muni streetcar line, and wrote about their experience.

I sat at the very front of the car and found the driver, Angel, to be a friendly and great resource for how the waterfront has changed. A longtime resident of San Francisco for over 30 years, he was able to share a magnificent history of San Francisco’s waterfront as we passed the different structures and attractions along the embarcadero. The weather seemed perfect and an ocean breeze drifted into the open windows. The scenic views from the streetcar were lovely and interesting. You could see ships on the bay and colorful and interesting people buzzing about outside.

“Muni: Crazy people shitting their pants”

Definitely on our list of worst Muni stories: people popping zits on the bus. By messtiza

Last month on Reddit, a thread opened asking for people’s worst Muni stories. It’s kind of what you’d expect: shit, vomit, crazy person, vomit, shit in pants, shit on seat, piss in pants, refrain.

And, of course, the occasional old guy who touches a young lady’s leg and jerks off.

A few of favorites include:

Sat down on a seat covered in shit (hopefully it was from an animal) at the Mission and 4th stop. If you saw a guy washing his pants in the Metreon bathroom, that was me. — foofy

And:

Woman carrying a big stack of eggs/crates. Hundreds of eggs. Leaning tower of Pisa style. She’s trying to keep this shit level, but it doesn’t work. It tips and eggs go all over the place. (38 Geary) — firebelly

Muni Nutter Butter for a Better-Smelling Bus

Someone was in one hell of a rush.

Here, we (obviously) have discarded Nutter Butter. It made my section of the 49 smell like peanut butter instead of urine, and, for that, I thank the hurried Safeway shopper who left these behind.

So, what does your bus smell like? You guys are really good at describing Muni’s olfactory pleasures and offenses alike.
