Graceful Harp at Montgomery Street Station

muni station harp

Did you see this elegant harpist at the Montgomery Street station the other day? Another harpist, last seen here, was delighting his fellow commuters on the bus with his mini harp! We’re all for buskers, like this chamber music quartet, this cellist at the 16th Street BART station, and especially this musician with this very unusual instrument.

Thanks to @commutelife for submitting this Muni moment to us on Instagram.

Montgomery Street Station’s Secret Breakroom

It makes total sense that there would be a break room at the Montgomery Street Station, but who would have imagined how magical it looks!?

Curbed editor Brock Keeling caught a glimpse of the very domestic-looking room. It’s like the wardrobe doors opened and Narnia is a 1980s San Francisco apartment kitchen! The only thing that could make this better is the smell of buttered toast, tea, and boxes of Turkish Delight on the counter.

For another delight from Brock, check out his wonderful sneak peek of the new SFMoMA on Curbed.

If many of us weren’t already squeamish about invisible nastiness lurking on BART, things got a whole lot worse this week. Yesterday, BART officials announced that a Contra Costa County resident with measles commuted between the East Bay and San Francisco on Feb. 4 through 6, potentially exposing countless riders to the virus.

Awesome.

According to BART, the person traveled between the Lafayette and Montgomery Street Stations during the morning and evening commutes from 6 to 8 a.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and spent time at San Francisco’s E & O Kitchen and Bar on the evening of Feb. 4. The San Francisco Chronicle has since identified the rider as an employee of LinkedIn. This is not the kind of networking we envisioned!
