Mystery Muni Accordion-Player

Update (1:34 p.m.): @clowntraps was kind enough to share the photo above, adding, “the N Judah accordion player from yesterday. Quite good!” So there you have it. Now, audio, anyone?

Original post: You know what they say about three making it a trend, right? Well, here we go.

1. Bummed

2. Joyous

3. Indifferent?

We recently learned of a mysterious full band entertaining/irritating L-Taraval passengers. Won’t someone help unmask the accordion player on the N-Judah? Are the two somehow related?

Here’s another photo, this one showing TWO accordion players, from bananaeggroll:

Photo Diary: The Power of an N-Judah’s “Sorry”

Alice sent in this photo of a very polite N-Judah car.

I am thrilled that the N construction is over. However, the last two days have been ridden with delays. Tuesday, I watched two trains go by my stop and refuse to pick up passengers although there had already been a long delay before they showed up.

Once I finally got on the N, we passed another car and I noticed that it had a message for me. Was it apologizing for failing me today?

This certainly isn’t the first time that a Muni car remembered its manners. It’s never too late to say sorry…or is it?

Muni’s Long Shutdown Is Actually Kinda Beautiful

Muni is busy building a better Muni, though we’re sure some of you see the long shutdown mostly as a big stinkin’ pain in the ass.

Still, there’s a sort of beauty in the work going on at Church and Duboce, evidenced here by Patrick’s photo above. Click here for a larger version.

Aside from looking kinda purty if you’re in the right mood, we wanna know how your N-Judah, J-Church, and 22-Fillmore experiences have been like since Friday evening. Better, worse, same? Sound off in comments here.

Here’s another shot of the action, this one from Jim. Thanks for sending, Jim!

100 Muni StoriesWe’ve seen our share of lost and found stories on Muni Diaries over the years. This one is technically only a “lost,” or so it would seem. @shanghaijim tweeted it:

“Did someone forget their G-string on the steps of the N early this morning? It’s on its way back downtown.”

The “G-String” should be a new Muni route, right?

100 Days, 100 Muni Stories is our way of celebrating Muni’s centennial year. Read this and other stories on our 100 Days, 100 Muni Stories page, and send us your story today!

At least the wheels didn’t come off?

Hey, Muni, you got something, uh, hanging off … right there. No, to the left. No, a little more to the right. There it is.

Camera-ready Christopher sent us this dispatch of a one-car (minus one door) N-Judah:

…some photos of the door that went flying off mid-route that caused yesterdays inbound delay. After they kicked everyone off at Van Ness station, the train then slowly creeped back through the station with the door having been pulled off and sitting in the middle of the carriage. I wish I had gotten a photo of that!

Don’t sell yourself short, Christopher. This is very Hulk Smash to me.

How on earth does this happen?
