Best Caltrain Apology

best caltrain apology

When in doubt, always address your audience in a presidential manner:

“The award for best way to apologize for a track delay goes to #CalTrain,” @actualkris observed.

Oh, by the way, are you following us on @caltraindiaries? You can get a daily dose of commuter life in the Peninsula: cell phone convo that should require an NDA, tragically failed pickup lines, of course, toenail clipping.

Video: Caltrain Surprise Wedding Proposal

We just found Aaron’s rot-your-teeth-sweet wedding proposal on Caltrain! Aaron and Maggie actually first met on Caltrain in 2008. To propose to his special lady, Aaron packed a Caltrain car full of their friends and family for a super sweet surprise.

From Aaron: “After a month of scheming and trying to come up with an innocuous excuse for Maggie to ride on Caltrain, she decided to have a “Craft Day” with her painting buddies. Little did she know we had crafted another plan…

I had assembled friends and family to help celebrate my proposal to Maggie on Caltrain. At the 22nd St San Francisco station, we all began to sing “We Are Young” by Fun as Maggie boarded the car…”

The rest, as they say, is in the YouTube video!

“Why Are Caltrain Conductors So Much Friendlier?”

Burning question on Quora: “Why are Caltrain staff so much friendlier than other public transport staff in the Bay Area?”

While I am not sure the assertion is true, the sages on Quora have some guesses, including:
1. Caltrain conductors see more regulars.
2. Caltrain is quieter and more pleasant to ride so people are less cranky (except when this happens).
3. Caltrain conductors’ job description sounds more empowering.
4. Caltrain is faster than Muni (“slowness breeds frustration.”)

Hmm. Are Caltrain conductors really friendlier than, say, Muni operators?

Booze Toss on Caltrain

The booze culture on Caltrain has been taken to a whole new level. This happened to @ryanwj:

A random stranger just tossed me this on CalTrain. “It’s just one of those days,” he says. I guess it will be. #ILoveSF

Why does this never happen to me? All I do is watch bros open cans of Bud Light on their way to the game. Come on, pay it forward!
