While looking for the latest rerun of Law and Order, I happened upon a TV spot for SFMTA’s Muni app, Muni +. Minutes later I was downloading it, hoping that it would be at least decent compared to what I currently use (Routesy and Maps on iPhone). SFMTA contracted app developers Sky Highways to create the app, which is available for both iPhone and Android. Read more

What does it take to upend New York City’s massive subway system? Two tiny kittens, apparently.
Late last month, transit workers shut down two subway lines for more than an hour after a pair of striped kittehs were spotted running on the tracks. The kittens were eventually rescued, and the “yays!” did ensue.
But current NYC mayoral candidate and former MTA chair Joe Lhota later told the media that he thought the shutdown was a bad idea. All together now: “Booooooo!”
New York’s mayoral primaries are today, and our guess is that Lhota won’t be able to shore up the cat lady vote.
But this does make us wonder: How would our city officials and politicians handle it if two adorable felines were to get stuck on Muni Metro or BART tracks?

You’ve probably heard Heather’s story before: Fare inspectors issuing a ticket when the Clipper Card reader wasn’t working. Heather attached a memo from the SFMTA (seen above) that says passengers can ride without paying when the Clipper Card reader is not working. After hearing so many of these stories, I think it’s probably worth walking to the front of the bus to try the Clipper Card reader there.

We last visited Muni’s grazing goats in October 2012. Turns out they’re not purely nocturnal creatures.
Lindsey spotted these guys scarfing away at the Muni barn at Geary and Presidio. Just in case you wondered whether they were still around. Yes, they are still around.
