Muni Wants Corporate Shuttles to Pay to Use Bus Stops

The huge corporate shuttles that drive up to your Muni stop and get in the way every morning might finally have to pay to use Muni’s bus stops. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, “Muni wants to share 100 of its stops with the growing swarm of private commuter shuttles, give priority to its own buses and charge a fee to the private operators.”
These corporate shuttles currently use about 250 Muni stops, according to the Chronicle story. The proposed test plan will only last for 18 months, and there hasn’t been a decision on how much the fee will be.
We’ve definitely heard increased complaints from you about these corporate shuttles. Remember when a vigilante Muni rider told the Facebook bus to get out of the way?
This proposal will be presented to the MTA Board of Directors this Friday. We’ll keep you updated.

Race Against the 22-Fillmore Wednesday

If you think the bus is so slow that you might as well be on foot, Motion Starved and Athleta on Fillmore Street are challenging you to put your theory to the test tomorrow in their “Race the 22-Fillmore” event. At 6 p.m., the runners are gathering at Fillmore and Cervantes to see if they can outrun the bus up and over the hill. At the end of the race, there will be free snacks waiting. Read more

Your Weekend Transit Advisory: America’s Cup, Market repaving, Clement farmer’s market
It even kinda (kinda) feels like summer, y’all.
America’s Cup
America’s Cup events will take place at the America’s Cup Park located at Pier 27 and America’s Cup Village located on Marina Green this weekend. Races are scheduled for approximately 12:15 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, each day.
Muni will continue to provide supplemental transportation services to welcome the America’s Cup sailing fans and to keep the city moving:
· MS-Marina-Pier 27 bus shuttles from Pier 27 to Bay & Fillmore near Marina Green will run between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.
· MM-Market-Marina bus shuttles from Civic Center BART/Muni station to Bay & Fillmore near Marina Green will run between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m.
