Fleet Week Muni Newbie Guide

Sailors and other Muni newbies are in town for Fleet Week, so be prepared to see lots of confused (or drunk?) faces on public transit. Over the years you’ve shared lots of tips for newbies. In addition to the ole “$2 a ride, exact change, keep the transfer, good for any direction for 90 minutes,” we’ve seen some funny and useful tips. Some of the best advice from you for a Muni newbie.

1. STEP DOWN! STEP DOWN!
2. When the recorded lady tells you to “Please Hold On,” she means it.
3. That’s not water on the seat.
4. Hold on to your cell phone and valuables.
5. Move to the back. You’ll get off the bus in time.
6. There’s no honest game of dice on the bus.

Found: The Crocodile King of Muni

Folks on Reddit are buzzing about The Crocodile King of Muni. I used to see this guy walking around my old neighborhood in the Richmond, and here he is on Muni in his full crocodile glory. Check him out from top to bottom, especially those crocodile shoes! And did you notice his tie? So few people take this much care into a coordinating look. This is an outfit worthy of the word “epic.”

According to commenters on Reddit, “he has an equally awesome car. Kinda makes it even sweeter to see him on a bus making sure the Muni commuters are exposed to the swag.”

“No one has ever won as hard as this gentleman is currently winning.”

That about says it all.

Night Time Goat Sighting at the Muni Yard

You’re not hallucinating. These are goats at the Muni yard. Tony Ta has pictures to prove it. It appears that Tony and his girlfriend even petted the goats later that evening. Here’s what Tony saw:

My girlfriend was riding the 38BX into work yesterday morning when she looked up and saw hundreds of goats as her bus was passing the Muni Barn at Geary and Presidio. It looks like they are there, on the western hillside, to trim down the overgrowth. Apparently, no one else on the bus saw them since they all were too busy with headphones on, trying to ignore each other. I didn’t believe her when she told me so she made me jump in the car with her and drive over to the Muni Barn on the Trader Joe’s side. Sure enough, there were some 200 goats just hanging out on the hillside! It looked like they were settling in for the night, but they are still scampering about when she took the bus this morning.

Two years ago we had another sighting of goats at the Muni yard and learned that they may be from Goats R Us or City Grazing. The goats have been spotted at CCSF and Forest Hill station.

Pro Level Muni Makeup Station

This is, hands down, the most impressive makeup application on Muni that I have ever seen. I mean, you see a girl putting on eyeliner on the bus and you think, how dangerous and skillful! But check out what @LeJazzHOT busted out on the bus.
