Record Your Muni Trip on Your iPhone

We found via our Twitter feed that developer Aaron Tait has just made a new iPhone app called Muni Diary (unrelated, but we know a good name when we see one). You can use the app to record the lines you’ve been on and what happened on your bus ride.

Check out Muni Diary at the Apple App store! Link here. And if you’d like to write a review of this app for Muni Diaries, shoot us an email and let us know. muni.diaries.sf@gmail.com.

Fracas/Clusterfuck/Armageddon at Church Street Station

Photos by “Doot doot, bleep bleep!”

A Muni rider whose only identification (I shit you not) is “Doot doot, bleep bleep!” sent in this photo of this morning’s N/J Church Street Station free-for-all, along with this dispatch:

I took a few snapshots of the Church station this morning after the N and J started dumping people off before the tunnel. These were taken at around 8:15am – as you can see it looks more like New Years Eve.

We’re gladly accepting more accounts, be they written or photographed. Here, please.

Namaste on the 24-Divisadero

Sarah of I’m writing, you’re reading sent us the following remarkable little slice of life on the 24-Divisadero.

I sat down on the bus (ran to catch it again thankyouverymuch) after my second 3-hour yoga session of the weekend. Yoga mat and eco-friendly water bottle in hands. Glance across the isle and spot the exact same eco-friendly water bottle in the hands of another girl.

Oh and what do you know, she’s holding a yoga mat too.

Well aren’t we just two identical San Francisco stereotypes. In the flesh. On the bus.

So we make eye contact and I first point at my water bottle, then to hers. Then to my mat, and to hers. Laughter.

Janet’s class?, she asks.

No, Dina’s workshop, I answer.

YogaTree junkies. Shoulda known.

We bond over our mutual love of Janet Stone’s flow classes at the Castro studio, and she knew exactly which workshop I was taking because she thought of taking it too. And is going to take it later.

What’s your name?, she asks.
I’m Sarah, I answer.

She just shakes her head and laughs.
I’m Sarah too, she says.

When Sarah got off the bus, the girl next to me confirmed what I was just thinking, “I’m sorry, but that was really cute.”

Now it’s your turn — tell us what happened to you on Muni today.

What’s the weirdest Muni cargo you’ve seen?

apparently, you can

I found this photo while trolling Flickr for more Muni-related pictures. Is that a surf board and a …black board?

A while back we received a submission from a rider who found a clever way to transport a ladder on Muni. On the 47 the other day I saw a man with a bearded dragon who tried to charge me a dollar to take a photo of it. We’ve see rats, parrots, and a giant spider passing as passengers on our commutes.

Spot any odd cargo on Muni lately? Let us know.
